I've been feeling crafty lately. After busting out all of those bigger house projects (more about the deck tomorrow!) I kind of want to sit down and just make something cute. Nothing big or fancy, just a pretty little gem I can look at. And since Halloween is tomorrow, it's probably time to venture into fall decor for real. Here are a handful of DIY projects I'm considering, thanks to my buddy Pinterest.
First, this is a beautiful pinecone garland. The tutorial calls for gold leaf, but I would probably use paint instead because it's a little easier to control. I'm seriously considering this one because I could leave it up through Christmas, too.
This wreath makes me think of a meadow. I like how the flowers are kind of randomly placed.
Painting a rug has been all over the web this year, and I think it's a great (read: easy) way to personalize a room. This one here just involves a stencil and one paint color, which is the kind of craft I prefer because I can do it while I catch up on episodes of Catfish.
Twigs + hot glue + glass votive holder. Brilliant, and so pretty.
I want to get back into sewing again. I know I say that every year, and then I after I make two things I put the machine back in my closet and forget to use it for another 11 months, but I mean it now. Making pillows might not be a bad plan for somebody who's about to have an interior design degree. Anyway, these place mats are adorable and easy to whip up. They're canvas instead of burlap, which means they'll hold up a lot better over time but still have the rustic look that so many people want these days.
So far the frontrunner from this group is the pinecone garland, but everything is pretty versatile and not overly difficult to make. I'll have to narrow it down...
